Charles was born the eldest of 15 children to his parents Robert and Mary Guynn and a lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana and a Christian for life. Charles graduated from St. Rita Roman Catholic Elementary School and Bishop Chatard High School. Charles hold a B.S. Degree in Public Administration from Martin University.

Charles taught math and science at St. Rita for 8 years and was named the dean of boys and girls. Charles also served as Vice Principal for 3 years.

After leaving St. Rita, he was appointed Director of the Human Rights Commission of Indianapolis by William H. Hudnut, mayor of Indianapolis. As a part of the responsibility given to the director, Charles was appointed as the city’s representative working with the U.S. Department of Justice, assisting with its consent decree.

Charles took a position with Browning Investment and became a certified property manager and managed over 800,000 square feet of industrial space.

As life has it, God had another plan for Charles. Charles had been involved with the Indiana Black Expo for over 20 years as its treasurer. After being approached by the President of IBE, he was appointed as the President of the Indiana Black Expo Economic Development Cooperation (IBEEDC). Simultaneously, Charles directed another not-for-profit Saint Peter Claver Center (SPCC).

After growing the two nonprofits, Charles started and owned his own hospitality security company, CGSSI. His exclusive client was the Indianapolis Hyatt Regency. The success of CGSSI lead to him being loaned to the organizational team for the NATO Conference, which was held in Chicago in 2012.

Charles retired in 2014…or so he thought! After a series of events, Charles became the Director of Development for Community Outreach for Financial Education (COFFE).
